Alt terms of service
Last updated October 25, 2026. These terms apply between Goated Apps and the merchant whose Shopify store installs Alt. Installing or using Alt means you accept them. Questions: supported@goatedapps.com.
The service
Alt lets you list open-box, returned, refurbished, pre-owned and imperfect items as separate Shopify products and show them on the original product page. Shopify keeps your prices, inventory, checkout, payments and fulfillment. You own the products, photos and descriptions you create with Alt, and they stay in your store if you uninstall.
Fees
Alt is free to install. Its plan, Pay as you sell, has no monthly fee. The first $100 of net alternative item sales in each monthly billing cycle is free, and Alt charges 1% of net alternative item sales above that. Net alternative item sales are the prices paid for alternative items after discounts, excluding shipping and taxes; for stores billed in another currency the allowance is 100 units of that currency. Refunded or removed items are credited back when the refund happens. Shopify bills the fee on your Shopify invoice through Shopify App Pricing, and the Sales page in Alt shows the current billing cycle. Test orders and development stores are not charged. We will give at least 30 days’ notice in the app before changing the fee.
Your responsibilities
Describe each item’s condition accurately and honestly, set your own prices and return policy, and make sure you have the right to sell the items and use the photos you upload. Alt shows what you enter; it does not inspect items or verify condition claims.
Data processing
You are the controller of your store’s data and Goated Apps processes it on your behalf only to provide Alt. Alt reads product, inventory, theme and order line item data as described in the Alt privacy policy. It does not request customer names, contact details, addresses or payment details. We do not sell data, use it for advertising or train models on it. Cloudflare hosts the app and Shopify provides the platform and billing; both may process data internationally under their own data protection terms. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by these providers, and access is limited to people who operate the service.
Alt deletes your app data when you uninstall, keeps its billing ledger until Shopify’s shop redaction request about 48 hours later, and answers Shopify’s privacy webhooks. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your data, we will tell you without undue delay and help with any required notices.
Availability and liability
We work to keep Alt available and correct, but it is provided as is, without a guarantee of uninterrupted service or compatibility with every theme. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid Alt in the 12 months before the claim.
Changes and ending
You can stop using Alt at any time by uninstalling it; fees already incurred remain payable. We may update these terms and will post the new version here with its date. Material changes take effect 30 days after notice.
